October has presented us with some pretty awesome couples! We are starting off November just the same… Dorneeta and Walter were a blast to work with! Their engagement pictures were taken at Yates Mill Park and downtown Raleigh. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to match their bright personalities. Their wedding is on New Years Eve and Sarah and I couldn’t be more excited for it!

Tom + Tracy | Asheville, NC Wedding

Sarah and I spent 3 days with Tom and Tracy for their wedding weekend in Asheville, NC. It’s rare when we have such an amazing combination of elements that come together for a wedding, all of which was clearly put together with lots of love. Their ceremony and reception were held at the stunning Crest Center and Pavilion where they were joined by their very enthusiastic and loving family and friends who celebrated the night away with them… Ben Suggs of Southern Entertainment had no trouble keeping the party rocking all night long. The perfect couple, location, weather, vendors, and guests created an experience Sarah and I will never forget. Congrats Tom & Tracy! 4 Years

Today is our 4 year wedding anniversary. We’ve been together for nearly 9 1/2 years. It has been an adventure far beyond anything we ever expected. I am so proud to share life with such and amazingly beautiful woman, mother, and wife. She gives me life and reminds me of what is important. We’ll continue this crazy life with the coolest little dude I know… Ethan. Can’t stop, won’t stop, 2&3!

When Sarah’s friend, Jamila, asked her to photograph her newest addition, she was beyond thrilled. Little Corey stayed zonked out for almost the entire shoot, allowing us to have a few changes in clothing. Sarah was especially hyped for the Jordan jersey being a basketball fan herself. He’s absolutely precious, and we couldn’t be more happy for this family.

We recently acquired this camera and have been enjoying shooting film again. It’s reminding me of how impatient digital photography has made me. It is a welcome change and is great for our creative side. It makes you slow down and think about every aspect of what you are creating. We’ve been shooting a little with it at weddings and will share some of those in the near future. For now enjoy these few shots of our little family… well, mostly Ethan. The black and whites were shot with Ilford Delta 3200 and the color with Kodak Portra 400.

Overdue Ethan

This is a seriously overdue post. Ethan is officially 9 months old now! His has turned into be quite the little hellion. Don’t let the cute pictures deceive you, there is never a down moment when he is awake. Out of all the babies we’ve seen, Ethan is by far the most active child we’ve encountered. This is interesting considering that Sarah and I were, supposedly, very calm quite children. None the less, we are having a blast watching him grow and learn new skills. There is nothing quite as awesome as being a parent! Ethan Facts @ 9 Months: 1. He has 6 teeth (4 top, 2 bottom) 2. He loves opening cabinet doors and pulling everything out 3. He loves walking around while pushing his chair or a cardboard box 4. He loves baths 5. He loves pulling on the dog and cat 6. He loves being outside 7. He loves Gerber Puffs almost as much as daddy 8. He loves reading books with mommy before bed 9. He loves going through our camera bag/s 10. He loves being barefoot 11. He hates falling asleep 12. He hates getting dressed

So many things change once you have a child. And nearly all for the better. One of the things we didn’t account for was, when you have a baby, everyone approaches you with a smile. Everyone is happy for that moment when you first see them, no matter how they may feel. Its a wonderful thing! People in public smile as they pass by you when they would have otherwise not even have noticed you. Life just seems sweeter when you are with your child. Ethan is really starting to get vocal about nearly everything. He has things he absolutely love and hates. Loves:

Mom and Dad
The Outdoors
Going for walks
iTunes visualizer
The vacuum (it calms him)
Changing outfits and/or diapers
Being on his feet
His hands and fingers

Hates:

Sitting
His reflux issues
The car seat
Dad blowing his nose
Water; or more specifically, a bath
Falling asleep

We still can decide who he looks like more. I don’t see either of us in him and think he has his own look. Maybe this will change as he starts to grow. People who meet him give us a wide array of opinions about who they think he looks like. A lot of the time they mention someone else in the family. All I know, is he is so freakin’ cute. He comes with us to all of our weddings and photo shoots and definitely loves the attention from all of the different people. But as we all know, it’s an exhausting job! This was his first time out in the snow. He didn’t seem to mind it much, he just loves being outside.

Union Pines High School Prom | Pinehurst, NC

Our good friend, Ben Suggs, asked us if we could offer our photography services for the 2010 Union Pines High School Prom at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC. Of course, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Ben. If you know Sarah and I, you know we love Ben. Not only that, but Ben’s wife Jenna and brother Nathan were there to help. We make a killer team! This was Sarah and I’s first Prom, although for this one we got to have fun and take Photo Booth pictures, 2&3 style! Ben had a large projection screen set up which we projected the pictures on for everyone to view. Lifetouch took care of the formals, so as you can see, we got to have a bit of fun with the students. We thoroughly enjoyed the night and boy was it packed. The Fair Barn is a beautiful location and the Union Pines Prom looked amazing especially considering the fact that they used most of the Prom committee money to donate to the Cancer Care Fund. What an awesome way to celebrate! A BIG thanks to Ben and Union Pines High School for giving us the opportunity!

Janene & Tremaine Engagement

What can we say… these two are a blast! When the weather decided to present us with stormy weather, we decided to make the best of it and Janene & Tremaine were all for it. We had a great evening with a little rain at the beginning, but it held off and gave us some pretty awesome clouds to work with. This is the first shoot we’ve had inside the Tobacco District in downtown Durham, and I have to say, its a great place for them. A great venue with an even greater couple make for easy picture taking! Janene and Tremaine know how to work the camera when they’re together! Sarah and I are excited for their wedding this September and are grateful to have such amazing clients! Thanks guys!

Stacie’s Bridal Portraits

Stacie’s family has a long line of beautiful traditional bridal portraits. We were honored with the opportunity to help continue the tradition. When she came over for her photo shoot, she brought a very small bouquet. Sarah has two bouquets made from fake flowers on standby for brides who don’t have one. We used one of ours, which had white flowers, and mixed them in with hers to make a full bouquet. I photoshopped the white, fake flowers, red to match the real red roses.
